Is it a bad idea to do a rectangular shaped sound port? Would the corners cause stress risers and cracks or is it not an issue? |

I would think a modest 1/4"radius at the corners should make it alright. |

Now Todd... For those of you who don't get the reference, look up the DeHavalind 'Comet' airliner. It was the first commercial jet airliner, and had some problems.... |

Square sound port sounds like the perfect place to have EQ controls in... take the control off and you got a square soundport! I fixed a cort that had a side crack this way because it was not reinforced. |

In a past life, I did a lot of work on ultrasonic welding in plastic. We learned real quick that vibrational energy concentrates at sharp edges, corners, etc. |
